Synopsis

B12s Remembered: The Class, Tour of 63 and The Loco by R. Hardy, Chris Bird and David Butcher.

The B12s were considered by many to be the finest inside cylinder express locomotives to grace Britain’s Railways, the original complement of 81 engines are now no more – save one. That one is owned by the M&GN Joint Railway Society: its numbered 61752 when in BR lined black lined livery and 8572 when in LNER apple green.

This book celebrates the class and 61572 in particular. The locomotive was brought out of retirement in 1963 for a 260 – odd mile railtour . Chris Bird and David Butcher describe the events that led up to the tour and the tour itself. Dick Hardy proceeds this with an affectionate look at the class in BR days and some of the men who crewed them.

The book is illustrated.
