Synopsis
Railway Reflections: Reminiscences of Steam in Scotland by Stuart Sellar and Brian Dickson.
Railway Reflections is by renowned Scottish railway photographer W.S. Sellar. This collection of photographs is accompanied by his personal memories and anecdotes gathered from his many years working for British Railways and travelling throughout Scotland as an enthusiast. He had the opportunity to gather unique shots as those on the Forth Bridge, Port Edgar and at Bonnington Crossing in Edinburgh, and his duties at many stations throughout Eastern Scotland brought him the chance to capture images on lines and branches not normally visited and photographed by enthusiasts.
Stuart Sellar realised that the railway scene was about to change dramatically particularly with the elimination of steam traction. His railway career created opportunities that allowed him to record the passing of the steam locomotive and with 140 photographs this book includes a selection of images all taken in Scotland. Many personal memories and anecdotes are incorporated into the captions adding greatly to the quality of this book which will enhance any railway enthusiast’s library.
