Synopsis

The Surrey Hills A Guide to the Caterham Railway and its Vicinity. The original book was first published in 1866 and covers the South Eastern Railway (SER). It included many fascinating glimpses of East Surrey when its villages were remote and sparsely populated.

The railway had arrived, however, and the Victorians could indulge themselves, armed with a reliable guide, in exploring these quaint places.

This 2003 reprint is printd in facsimile format with the addition of some photographs. Features 45 photographs and illustrations including the Caterham time table and fares from October 1866.
