Synopsis

The Unknown Warrior and the Cavell Van by Brian Janes. The Cavell Van was used to repatriate three World War One heroes.

Edith Cavell was executed by the Germans for aiding the passage of about 200 British and allied soldiers from Belgium to Holland.  She was the first to be repatriated using the wagon, which later became known as the Cavell Van.

Captain Fryatt was executed for his attempt to ram a submarine with his non-military vessel.

The final repatriation was for the Unknown Warrior who was buried at Westminster Abbey in 1920.

The book is illustrated and features details of both the van and the three people it carried.
