Synopsis

50 Years of the Leyland National DVD.
Mike Humble and John Clancy join forces to look at an iconic British vehicle. This time it’s the Leyland National bus which was first launched in 1972 and soon became a common sight across the UK and around the world. 2022 was its fiftieth year and so we document the commemorative events at both Whitehaven – taking a visit to the Lillyhall factory – and the British Motor Museum, Gaydon. A further day at the Wythall Transport Museum followed.
We also take a look at the most interesting of Leyland National derivatives in the form of the Railbus. Includes an interview with one of the Railbus managers from Swindon who was running them until recently. He knew the whole history so it provides an interesting insight.
The main documentary runs for approximately 65 minutes. Also included is extended coverage of the Q&A session at Gaydon and a featurette on the Wythall Transport Museum with Denis Chick bringing the total running time up to about 1 hour and 50 minutes.
