Creating Cameo Layouts by Iain Rice.
A new updated and expanded edition of Iain’s popular book from 2017. Starting with a lovely memory and recollection of Iain from his long standing friend and fellow modeller Mick Simpson, the new edition has new chapters on the layouts that resulted from the Cameo Challenge, the fate of Longwood Edge and “Pit Hill”, the Cameo that Iain and Mick were building together. Iain’s original text stands, but the photographic content and layout of the book has been refreshed by James Hilton, with several new images included.
Iain described a Cameo as being “A well crafted miniature in a complimentary setting” – in the model railway sense; a layout that does not require a dedicated site, is easy to move and store, doesn’t look out of place in a domestic setting and is a breeze to take to exhibitions. Projects that offer worthwhile objectives and are not merely substitutes for bigger projects. Iain argues his case very convincingly, backing it up with a wealth of experience and numerous techniques and ideas, all set into the context of finescale modelling since the mid 1980s.
