Greenock Princes Pier by Joe Gurney.

This book tells the story of one of the most iconic River Clyde Railway Stations and it’s Steamer Terminus, Greenock Princes Pier. During it’s time it served as a base for the Glasgow and South Western trains and paddle steamers (competing with the Caledonian Railway based at Gourock), the trans-Atlantic liners and during the Second World War, one of the most important points of entry and exit for British, Empire and American troops. The railway line connected Greenock directly to all parts of the United Kingdom.

The days of travelling from St Enoch Station in Glasgow to Greenock in order to go ‘Doon the Watter’, or set off on a trip to America are vividly brought back in this richly illustrated book.
