In the Wink of an Eye by Colin Gifford. This long awaited book features stunning colour images.

Colin Gifford is considered by many to be the pioneer of a new genre of railway photography. His first book Decline of Steam in 1965 was, and still is, regarded as one of the most influential books of railway photography, in which he used his fine art training to good effect. Further books by Colin have since followed. All have featured his black and white photographs.

This new title, In the Wink of an Eye, is the first book to show some of his largely unknown creative photographs using colour film. With more than 200 colour images from across the UK, the book captures a range of steam during the 1960s.

The title ‘In the Wink of an Eye’ is borrowed, as are the titles ‘Each a Glimpse’ and ‘Gone Forever’ from the poem by R.L. Stevenson called From a Railway Carriage.

It is likely that this beautifully printed and bound limited edition book will become out of print in a relatively short time. Mint copies of the previous KRM/Colin Gifford collaboration ‘Transition’ rarely appear and are much sought after.

“Nothing is more expensive than a missed opportunity” H. Jackson Brown Jr.
