Railway Memories of Cambridge by Paul Sankey.

The original railway station in Cambridge was built in 1845 and became a hub for other railway companies with running powers allowing direct routes between London and York. The railways in the east of England were amalgamated to form the Great Eastern Railway in 1862 and by 1914 also had the Great Northern, GN&GE Joint, London North Western Railway and Midland Railway running into Cambridge.

At the 1923 Grouping, it became part of the LNER, with the addition of electrically controlled re-signalling and improvements to the station and shed buildings. With nationalisation in 1948 the line became Eastern Region of British Railways and so the book begins.

Printed on high quality paper, the book covers the lines around Cambridge, the sheds and yards, Midland Region locomotives, Western Region locomotives, Southern Region, Chesterton Junction locomotives, the diesel era and Coldham Lane depot.
