Sulzer Power! North Wales and Cambrian Lines by Steve Morris. Published on behalf of the Class Forty Preservation Society, Sulzer Power! features more than 150 photographs, the majority in colour.

This photographic album focuses on English Electric’s main rival in the world of first generation Diesel locomotive power unit suppliers, Sulzer. Diesel traction first appeared in North Wales as early as 1959 in the shape of English Electric Class 40s working between Holyhead and London. Sulzer powered traction followed shortly after during the summer of 1962 with Class 24’s working a Coventry to Llandudno and return to Derby diagram. Class 24’s most regular passenger work involved Cambrian Coast services.

Class 25’s followed the same pattern as the 24’s with early appearances in 1964. The book also features Classes 33, 45, 46 and 47’s.
