The Midland Main Line in London 1974-80

The Midland Main Line in London 1974-80 by Will Adams. The author explores Hendon to St Pancras before electrification.

In the last half of the 1970s the Midland Main Line into St Pancras still boasted a considerable number of mechanical signal boxes. All this was to go in 1982 with electrification. Will Adams photographed this infrastructure in their twilight years, showing very much a steam-age railway.

This photographic exploration begins at Silkstream Junction and ends at the pre-International St Pancras, using more than 100 photographs, maps, plans and signalling diagrams.
